Efficiency through Collaboration: How PACE, Scheidt & Bachmann, and EG Group Are Driving Digital Transformation
In a joint project, PACE Telematics, POS specialist Scheidt & Bachmann, and EG Group have simplified and redefined the integration of digital payment methods. The result is a centralized, scalable solution for more than 1,100 Esso-branded stations in the EG Group’s network – the majority are already integrated, with additional sites being added gradually.
The Challenge: Complexity in Digital Fuel Payments
For large station networks like EG Group’s, the growing variety of digital payment methods presents operational challenges. Connecting each individual digital partner—ranging from fuel card apps to mobile payment services—previously required resource-heavy IT projects. This fragmented approach slowed down innovation and led to significant costs. The goal was to implement a centralized, future-proof platform.
The Solution: A Strategic Partnership for a New Industry Standard
The strength of this solution lies in the combination of the core competencies of the three partners:
- Scheidt & Bachmann: As a leading provider of POS systems, its proven SIQMA platform serves as the technological foundation.
- PACE Telematics: s the operator of Connected Fueling, Europe’s leading open platform for mobile payments, PACE provides the central interface.
- EG Group: Operating one of the largest fuel station networks in Germany, EG Group defines the requirements for an optimal customer experience.
“In our collaboration with Scheidt & Bachmann and PACE Telematics, we focused on developing a customer-friendly and secure solution for mobile payments at the pump. By combining the experience and expertise of all involved, we created an efficient and fast-to-roll-out solution for our stations,” says Clemens Steiner, IT Manager, EG Group Germany.
The Technical Key: SIQMA Connect as Central Hub
A crucial technical factor was the integration of PACE’s Connected Fueling platform via the open SIQMA Connect interface. Instead of having to connect each individual application to the POS system, SIQMA Connect acts as a central hub and “translator.” Once connected, PACE can make bundled digital fuel cards and mobile payment apps available across EG Group’s entire network.
“The integration of our Connected Fueling platform into Scheidt & Bachmann’s SIQMA POS systems went smoothly and efficiently – a clear testament to the openness and technical maturity of the SIQMA Connect interface. Together with Scheidt & Bachmann as our partner, we were able to implement a scalable and future-proof mobile payment solution,” says Philip Blatter, Managing Director, PACE Telematics GmbH.
The Benefits of the Partnership: Added Value for All Stakeholders
The result of this collaboration delivers sustainable value on multiple levels:
- For EG Group: Significantly reduced integration effort, faster time-to-market for new digital services, and a future-proof platform that scales with evolving requirements.
- For drivers: A seamless, fast, and secure payment experience using their preferred app – right at the pump – at over 900 additional stations.
- For the industry: A forward-looking model that demonstrates how open platforms and strategic partnerships can make the digital transformation of the fuel retail sector both efficient and scalable.
Jörg M. Heilingbrunner, CEO, Scheidt & Bachmann Energy Retail Solutions GmbH, says: “Our collaboration with PACE Telematics and EG Germany demonstrates how modern digital payment solutions can revolutionize the fuel station experience. […] This partnership illustrates how collaborative expertise is driving progress across the mobility sector.”
Looking Ahead
The successful partnership between PACE Telematics, Scheidt & Bachmann, and EG Group sends a clear message: The future of fueling is connected, open, and collaborative. It proves that by combining strengths, technological barriers can be overcome and innovation rolled out efficiently—for the benefit of both operators and end customers alike.
